Applying to our program is easy. Fill out the online application through the
UNR graduate school by following the link below:

Designate the BMB, or CMB, or CMPP program when applying, although all students have access to labs and mentors across the three programs.Please submit a statement of research interests and career goals, and three letters of recommendation from professors.. The “request for recommendation” form (pdf) posted on the Graduate School website should be used, but is not required. Please complete your application by Janurary 15th to receive full consideration for admission for the Fall semester. Applications will be accepted after this date with acceptances being conducted on a rolling basis as space permits. Unfortunately, the application fee cannot be waived.

Minimum qualifications for admittance to the M.S./Ph.D. degree program include an undergraduate degree in a related area and a GPA of 2.75/3.0 or higher and combined Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores of 300 or better (GRE Inst. Code = 4844 U Nevada Reno). A GRE subject test (e.g., Biology) is not required. A competitive TOEFL exam score is also required for students for whom English is their second language.

Students admitted to the MB Ph.D. programs are automatically offered research assistantship positions during their first year (a separate application for financial assistance is not required). Currently, the assistantship carries a stipend of $22,000/yr. In addition, Ph.D. graduate assistants receive a tuition waiver, which is worth approximately $12,000/yr. Students on graduate assistantships at the University of Nevada, Reno are also covered by the university health insurance plan, which is worth approximately $1,400 per year. Therefore, the total value of a Graduate Assistantship package is $33,400.
