Accuplacer Placement Testing

Accuplacer testing is for initial placement only, meaning:  Once a student has enrolled in and started a math/stat course, only successful completion of the class will permit the student to enroll in the next course in the math/stat series.

 
In other words, if you have taken a math/stat course at UNR you are no longer eligible to take the Accuplacer test.  

Special Circumstances

• Withdrawal
  If you withdraw from a math/stat course on or before the late registration date (usually the Wednesday of the second week of classes during a normal semester) the class isn't considered "taken".  And you are still eligible to take Accuplacer.
  
  After this date, a "W" appears on your transcript, the class is considered "taken" and you are no longer eligible to take Accuplacer for placement.
  

• Change of Major
  If you have taken Math 120, then changed your major and now need Math 126 or higher you may be eligible to take Accuplacer.  Similarly, if you have taken Math 176, then changed your major and now need Math 181, you may be eligible to take it. You will need a waiver from a Math/Stat Department Core and Placement Advisor. 
  

• Your previous Accuplacer score has expired
  Accuplacer scores obtained during the enrollment period for one academic year are good for that year and the next.  After two years have elapsed, the placement score is no valid.  If your Accuplacer score has expired and you have not yet successfully completed your first math/stat course you will have requalify for placement by taking Accuplacer again.  You will need a waiver from a Math/Stat Department Core and Placement Advisor.
