I thought the Math Center closed.
We are very fortunate that the Math Center was able to stay open via alternate funding.
What has changed in the Math Center?
The day to day functions will stay the same. The biggest change that will impact students is that tutors will only be able to assist students enrolled the following courses:
MATH 096/120/126/127/128/176/181/182/283/285 and STAT 152/352
MATH 096/120/126/127/128/176/181/182/283/285 and STAT 152/352
Why only those courses?
The students in those courses have paid a course fee that allows them to use the Math Center.
What if I am not enrolled in one of those courses?
The
tutors in the Math Center will not be able to assist you.
However, you are still allowed to use the computer lab.
Do I need to bring a student ID when I visit the Math Center? Yes. A UNR student ID is required for EVERY
visit to the Math Center. Knowing your R-number is not an acceptable
substitute. It is necessary that we keep accurate statistics
regarding the usage of the Center. We can only do that with
student IDs. If you do not bring your student ID your will not be
allowed to use the Math Center.
How do I rent calculators?
The
Math Center allows students to rent graphing calculators for $20 per semester.
Students need to pay this fee at the Cashier's
Office before
they can get the calculator from the Math Center (the Math Center can
not accept payment). Students can download the form here and take it directly to the Cashier's Office.
The Math/Stat Department in AB 601 keeps a list of people who offer
their services as private tutors.
