In addition to several classroom laboratories, Mackay has several notable research laboratories.
Arthur Brant Laboratory for Exploration Geophysics (ABLE)
In ABLE, geoscientists learn how to apply the fundamental principles and concepts of geophysical remote sensing, potential fields/electrical methods and geographic information systems.
Collaboratory for Computational Geosciences (CCoG)
A facility for massively parallel computing, the CCoG offers students of geological sciences and engineering the opportunity to gain skills in parallelized coding and execution.
Dendro Laboratory
Dedicated to tree-ring analysis, the Dendro Lab provides the opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge of the relation between tree growth and climate.
Geospatial Laboratory (G-Lab)
In the G-Lab, students can apply GIS technologies and spatial statistics to the research of ecosystems pattern and processes and their affected biotic and abiotic components.
Arentz Student Center
Dubbed the official "Mackay Student Space," the Arentz Student Center provides Mackay students with 24-hour access to a study center complete with computers, microwave oven, space to spread out and space to get comfortable.
