Uploading Your Changes onto the Fallon Server Using FTP

1. Make sure WW_FTP software is on your computer. If it is not, you may obtain it from here: http://www.ftpplanet.com/download.htm .

2. Open FTP by clicking on Start then Programs then WS_FTP LE then WS_FTP LE. WS_FTP will open with the Sessions Properties window in the foreground. Fill in the following dialogue boxes with the indicated information:

Profile Name: Fallon

Host Name/Address: fallon.scs.unr.edu

Host Type: Automatic Detect

User ID: YOUR USER NAME (The first part of your Fallon email address before the @)

Password: YOUR FALLON PASSWORD

And then click on OK. You are now in FTP land! On the left half of the FTP window is a directory entitled Local System that corresponds to your own PC and on the other half of the FTP window is a directory entitled Remote System that corresponds to your account on the Equinox server. The goal is to transfer files back and forth between your PC and Fallon.

3. Locate the drive on which the file you wish to upload is located. More than likely, you saved it on the A:/ drive. This can be located on the left portion of the FTP window that corresponds to your PC. The A:/ drive is located at the bottom of the file listing menu. You may need to scroll to the bottom to locate the A:/ drive and it will be listed as [-a-]. When you find [-a-], click on it and the file you wish to upload will be listed in the menu.

4. You will now need to locate the appropriate place to put your file onto the Fallon server. When you first log onto Fallon through FTP, you will open into a directory named /home0/16/YOUR USER NAME. Do not place your file in this directory! Instead, create a new folder by clicking on Mk Dir on the remote site window. Name the directory “public_html”. This will create a folder named public_html. Files that you place into this folder will be posted on the Web.

5. Click on this folder, public_html, to open it.

6. Highlight the file you wish to transfer from your A:/ drive.

8. Click on the arrow button that points to the right that is located between the Local System and Remote Site directory boxes. This will transfer your file into your Equinox Web site account and all changes will be posted to your site.
