Title: Creating a Web Page with Netscape Composer

 (Macintosh Instructions)

Purpose:

In this tutorial you will learn how to create simple web pages using Netscape Composer.  Composer comes bundled with the Netscape Communicator browser package.  If you already have Netscape Communicator, then you also have Composer.  Many individuals only have Netscape Navigator, which does not include Composer.  Netscape Communicator is a free program and can be obtained by following this link: http://home.netscape.com/download/.

Creating a Web Page

1.  Open Netscape.

2.  Open Netscape Composer by clicking on Communicator and then Composer.  A blank page will open.  Netscape Composer is very much like a word processor.  You may type text onto the page just as you would in word processing software.

3.  To change your font, highlight the text you wish to change, click on Format, then Font.  A menu will appear from which you may choose a font.  Move the curser over the font you want and then click on it.  Your highlighted text will change to the font you picked.

4.  To change the size of your font, highlight the font and then click on Format then Size and choose the size font that you want to appear on your page.

5.  To change the color of your font, highlight the text you want to change and then click on Format then Color.  Click on HSV Picker on the left side of the color dialogue box.  Choose the color that you want your highlighted text to appear as on your page by moving the curser over the color wheel and clicking on the color you want your text to be.  Click OK.

6.

To change the background color of your page, choose Format then Page Properties.  Click on the Colors and Background tab.  Choose the Use Custom Colors radio button.  In the menu, choose the Background button.  A color menu will appear.  Choose the color you want for your background.  Click OK and the background color will appear on your page.

7.      Save your files by clicking on the Save icon in the tool bar.

Inserting an Image into a Web Page with Netscape Composer
