The
first Learning Links symposium provided attendees with
the opportunity to share experiences with the use of
technology in education. The Keynote speaker, Assistant
Vice Chancellor Richard Curry shared with us the news
of an upcoming faster and more reliable internet connection
for Nevada's Public School Systems.
Mike
Connell from the University of Houston spoke about
how we can use technology as an efficient and helpful
tool.
You
can obtain Mike's Power point presentation here.
Meals
provided opportunities to learn more from collegues
about the different ways technology is being used
in educational endeavors. Many fresh and innovative
ideas were shared at this year's conference.
Among
the presenters were faculty from the
University of Nevada - Las Vegas, the University of
California - Davis, Arizona State University, and the
University of Nevada. Professionals from Nevada's public
school system were well represented. Educators from
Elko to Clark County came to share ideas and examples.
The symposium provided an opportunity to provide presentations
catering to all levels of educators.
As
always, our master teachers provided great information
about how they are using technology in the classroom.
Loads of examples on connecting technology to meaningful
learning were demonstrated for K-12 application. In
all, more than 25 presentations were made over the
two day symposium.
