Improvements to the Course:
The topics covered in this course include learning disabilities, serious emotional disturbance, mental retardation, and speech and language disorders. The information available on each of these disabilities can be overwhelming for undergraduate students. One of the goals that I have for the class has been to provide them with the ability to acquire additional information once they are teaching in their own classroom. One of the methods I use at this time is to introduce my students to a variety ofwebsites during class meetings.

I would expand this activity by developing a WebCT site in which I would ask my students to complete "homework" assignments. On the WebCt site I would provide links to the various websites that deal with the disability that we are learning about in the classroom. My goal would be for my students to bring to class a greater understanding of what type of information is on the web regarding the topic. My second goal would be to have the students submit their practicum journals electronically.
