The
Learning Links Consortium is a steering group for the
project made up of partner organizations from the educational
and business community. In addition to the College of
Education of the University of Nevada, Reno, the following
are members of the Learning Links Consortium:
SBC Nevada
Bell. SBC Nevada Bell is the telephone service
provider for the state. Nevada Bell is especially
committed to establishing and supporting the Nevada
Bell Student-to-Student Learning Network, a method
for future teachers to interact with rural students
in on-line formats.
Nevada
Public Broadcasting Service. KNPB, Channel
5, is the public television service for northern
Nevada and surrounding areas. The station is committed
to education in the schools and in the community.
The
Nevada Department of Education. The Nevada
Department of Education, presided over by the Nevada
State Board of Education, has administrative and
regulatory responsibilities for public education
in the state.
Washoe
County School District (WCSD). Washoe County
School District is the second largest school district
in Nevada. It serves the Reno/Sparks and Lake Tahoe
region and enrolls nearly 53,000 students in 83 schools.
Experienced teachers from WCSD serve as master teachers
and their classrooms will be field sites where future
teachers use technology with children.
The
Northeast Nevada Technology Consortium (NNTC).
This consortium consists of five countywide school
districts: Elko, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, and White
Pine. The consortium is funded through the Technology
Literacy Challenge Fund, with a primary focus is
on in-service education. Experienced teachers from
these districts serve as master teachers and their
classrooms will be remote field sites for future
teachers to have on-line experiences with children.
Truckee
Meadows Community College (TMCC). Truckee
Meadows Community College is part of the University
and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN). It
offers a range of programs in occupational and technical
education, liberal arts, and education. TMCC plays
a key role in offering courses in computer maintenance
and trouble shooting for prospective teachers.
