Project Learning Links of the College of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno, is a three-year PT3 grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education. PT3 : Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers to Use Technology is a federal initiative to transform teacher preparation in the 21st century. Project Learning Links enables the University of Nevada, Reno, to prepare elementary, secondary and special education teachers who will effectively work with, maintain, and advocate for teaching and learning technology in their classrooms. The overarching goal of Learning Links is to prepare technology proficient pre-service teachers who can enter the teaching ranks of Nevada schools, ready and willing to effectively infuse learning technology into the classroom curriculum. In
order to efficiently use learning technology in a school
classroom, teachers must think differently about the
teaching and learning process, classroom organization,
methods of content delivery, and the nature of student
projects and assignments. To accomplish this Learning
Links involves four change componentsmodeling, integrating, enhancing,
and applying. Support and
incentives for transforming the teacher education curriculum
are provided to college faculty through the Faculty
Fellows Program. In addition, the Learning
Links Consortium, made up of university, business,
non-profit, state, and school district representatives,
plays a key role in the design and organization of the
activities of the project. Click here to view a .pdf version of the Learning Links grant proposal. |
