STC LEGISLATIVE ACTION TEAM
ACTION PLAN

GOAL: The Legislative Action Team will secure funding of $2 million per year for the state School-to-Careers system in order to support the two main priorities of the School-to-Careers Council for 1999 through 2001:

PRIORITY #1

Support professional development to teachers, staff and community representatives in these areas:

  • High academics and standards and how they are applied in the workplace
  • Teacher Externships which provides workbased learning for teachers
  • Knowledge of workplace standards

PRIORITY #2

Workbased learning experiences for students that are:

  • Coordinated by a representative who places students in high quality career experiences
  • Connecting school to the business world
  • Providing students the preparation for post secondary and/or employment
