Education Programs: Washoe County School
District Occupational Education programs are offered at all middle schools and high
schools. Middle schools have available to all students courses in Introduction to
Technology, and Home and Career Skills. High Schools offer level one and level two
programs in Automotive, Drafting, Metals, Child Development, Food and Nutrition,
Woodworking, Business, and Computers. Capstone courses of the occupational courses offered
at the high schools are available at the Glenn Hare Occupational Center in the following:
Building Trades, Business Systems, Computer Animation and Imaging, Child Development,
Computer Aided Design and Drafting, Culinary Arts, Electronics, Marketing, Merchandising,
and Design, Horticulture and Landscaping, PC Servicing and Network Administration,
Precision Machining, Printing and Graphic Arts, Sports Medicine, Travel and Tourism. The
district also offers four magnet programs for advanced occupational students: Diesel
Technology, Welding/Fabrication Technology, Automotive Technology, and Video Broadcasting
Technology.
