Goal Three: Support the establishment of accountability systems that provide accurate, timely, public information regarding student achievement at all levels.

Goal Three Objective

1. Establish an internal management structure and system that results in cost-effective implementation of Washoe K-16 Council goals and objectives. Provide for the input and continuous feedback of all stakeholders regarding Washoe K-16 Council activities.
a. Encourage maximum community participation in the development, implementation, and evaluation of K-16 activities.
b. Secure funding from a variety of public and private sources for the Washoe K-16 Council to become self-sufficient by the year 2002.
c. Develop and implement an internal accountability system to provide for regulatory compliance and to measure progress on Washoe K-16 goals and objectives.
Action Steps
  • Develop staff operations, job descriptions, and a system of supervision
  • Hire an executive director and clerical support (contractual/part time)
  • Establish an office with appropriate equipment and communication systems
  • Provide quality volunteer support to paid administration staff
  • Review and assess at least annually, the goals and objectives of the Washoe K-16 Council. Specific issues for assessment and accountability will include: removal of barriers to participation, assessment across educational institutions and the community, measuring system change, and continual analysis of community needs versus educational programs provided.
