| Goal One: Foster
collaboration among leaders in business, education, and the community to encourage
systemic change of our existing educational systems, in order to provide learning that is
relevant for the needs of our global and local economies. Goal One Objectives

Develop a plan to improve understanding, commitment and
involvement of educational institution, business, and community organizations in the
purpose and the goals of the Washoe K-16 Council.

Recruit and involve stakeholders (educators, students,
community members, parents, business/professionals) to assist with the accomplishment of
the goals, objectives and activities of the Washoe K-16 Council. |
| b. |
Increase communication among K-16 Council stakeholders
through a variety of communication vehicles, i.e., newsletters, PSA’s, E-mail, staff
reports, presentations, and web sites. |
| Action Steps: |
- Develop appropriate media strategies
- Involve individual schools, Partners in Education, Inc., and
other relevant programs
- Design and deliver presentations for civic, professional and
parent groups
- Expand use of Internet through the web site

Host an annual Business and Education Summit with
private sector co-sponsors to report on Washoe K-16 Council progress, initiatives, and to
recruit additional partners. |
