A Rephotographic Project
|
Jean Dixon, professional photographer, and Katie Palani, professional student, undertook this project to show how the landscapes and urbanscapes of the Tahoe Basin have changed over the years. Many thanks to the UNR Special Collections department for furnishing all of the historic photos, and to Peter Goin for letting us use his Tahoe images shot in the early 1990s. Enjoy!

Field Notes
Since Homewood is a quiet corner of Tahoe, there was little traffic when Jean headed 'round the lake to get this shot on a sunny fall day full of color and a few puffy clouds. What a great day for a photo shoot!

History
Homewood has always been a small community, with a population recently of about 200. The area is home of the Homewood Mountain Resort, a truly local ski and snowboard resort with cheap lift tickets and a breathtaking view of the sparkling waters from the resort-side face.
