Jean Dixon, professional photographer, and Katie Palani, professional student, undertook this project to show how the landscapes and urbanscapes of the Tahoe Basin have changed over the years. Many thanks to the UNR Special Collections department for furnishing all of the historic photos, and to Peter Goin for letting us use his Tahoe images shot in the early 1990s. Enjoy!

Field Notes
Katie hit this spot after the Tahoe Science Consortium meeting on Friday. Crystal Bay was bustling with activity before lunch, and it was hard to get the shot without a bus or large truck or flurry of Subarus, but she managed somehow to get a clear shot. Interestingly, both the historic image and Peter's image were taken at the same time of day during the same season, because the shadow from a nearby tree is in exactly the same place!

History
The Crystal Bay Club has ever been a spot for locals and visitors alike, though it started out as the Ta-Neva-Ho. In the mid 1950s the name was changed to the Crystal Bay Club and extended its operation time to April through October. The Club went through a major renovation in 2003 by the new owners, Elise and Roger Norman, to the surprise and approval of the local community.
