Gary Hengstler helped create the Donald W. Reynolds National Center for the Courts and Media at the National Judicial College, University of Nevada, Reno.

Hengstler was editor and publisher of The ABA Journal, the flagship publication of the American Bar Association.

Hengstler, an award-winning journalist, is also licensed to practice law in his home state, Ohio.
