ResHall Configuration: Linux

To use a computer running the Linux operating system in the Residence Hall network, you must configure its network adapter to use DHCP.

Use linuxconf

  1. Start linuxconf, go to Basic Host Information under Networking and Client Tasks.
  2. Click Adapter 1, and select DHCP.
  3. Click OK and Apply Changes.
  4. Reboot the computer.

Use netcfg (RedHat)

  1. Start netcfg, then Adapters.
  2. Click eth0 and click Edit.
  3. Change it to DHCP and click OK all the way out.
  4. Reboot the computer.

You should now be able to register your computer on the Residence Hall Network.
