NetID Password Reset

Password Requirements

The requirements for a new password are:

  • At least 8 characters
  • At least three of the following:
    • An UPPER case letter
    • A lower case letter
    • A number
    • A symbol (e.g. !@#$%)
  • It can not contain more than three consecutive letters of any part of your name
  • It can not be any of your previous 4 passwords
  • It should not contain common words at the University such as "Password", "Nevada", or "Wolf"

There are three ways that you can reset your password. All of these methods will require you to provide some form of ID number or card to verify your identity.

Online

You can change your NetID password at the Network Security site. Click on the Account Management tab and then choose Change NetID Password.

By Phone

Please call (775) 682-5000 to speak to a technician who will be able to reset your password. Please ensure that you are at a computer when you do this as we will need you to go to a website to complete the process.

In Person

Employees and students of the School of Medicine can visit their IT Help Desk in the Savitt Medical Library. For HIPAA reasons, these are the only technicians that are able to reset your password.

All other members of the University can visit the IT Support Help Desk on the 2nd floor of the Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center.

What about email?

For security reasons, we are unable to reset a NetID password via email as it is an unsecure form of communication.
