A Computer Systems Administrator is assigned to an area of the campus that may encompass one or more buildings for which the position provides computer system administration support for departmental and college servers, computers in classrooms, computer laboratories and faculty and staff desktop computing, as well as guidance and consultation in technical matters such as network integration and hardware and software selection and installation.
The position works in coordination with other technicians at the University of Nevada, Reno.
The position will manage, develop, and train users on an Enterprise level collaboration system, such as Microsoft Sharepoint. The position is part of the IT department reporting to the Manager of Computer Support. Actual assignments and priorities are determined in consultation with other IT managers and representatives of the departments served. The position works independently but collaboratively. Within established IT standards and protocols the position is allowed leeway to handle user problems and requests. The position will work with other IT and department or college staff and sometimes direct their work. The individual is flexible, adaptable and works independently under limited supervision with some latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

The University of Nevada, Reno seeks a Senior Network Engineer or a Network Engineer to join the Information Technology Department. Based on the candidate pool, the position will be ranked by qualifications and experience. The Senior/Network Engineer is responsible for analysis, design, implementation, maintenance and support of communications infrastructure for the University’s campuses and for the University of Nevada School of Medicine’s (UNSOM) statewide clinical operations, which includes wired and wireless networks facilitating data, voice, video, and other media transmission. The Network Security Analyst for the Division of Health Sciences (DHS) is responsible for all day- to-day security management duties. This position will report to the Information Security Officer for the University of Nevada, Reno and serves as the HIPAA Security Officer for DHS.
This position will work closely with the Network and Critical Systems management groups and the Helpdesk and Desktop support groups that currently provide the majority of IT services. In addition to regular security monitoring this position will be the primary person responsible for ensuring compliance with medical security information regulations.
