The Student Intervention Team would like the opportunity to provide training and/or consultation tailored to the specific needs of your department and staff.
Training provided by the Student Intervention Team will provide you with the knowledge, skills and resources to assist with effectively identifying and approaching students of concern. Topics covered in the training include:
- Recognition of common sources of student distress
- Signs and symptoms of student distress
- How to address a student in distress
- Signs and symptoms of disruptive students
- How to handle and prevent classroom disruptions
- How and when to utilize the Student Intervention Team
Consultations can range from a 15-minute discussion to comprehensive two-hour trainings. Depending on the time allotted, training components may include:
- A Power Point presentation
- Role play opportunity
- Overview of campus resources
- Question and answer session
- Website navigation
