Nevada Opportunities
Nevada INBRE offers an opportunity for undergraduates to have a hands-on laboratory experience in a field of research support by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This experience will enrich your science education and will give you a competitive edge on graduate school, medical school and job applications. Any area of research that might be supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is appropriate.Students are selected in a statewide, merit-based competition. As part of the application process, students are required to identify a faculty mentor at UNR, UNSOM, UNLV, Nevada Cancer Institute or the Desert Research Institute with whom they are interested in conducting research. A list of faculty who have volunteered in the past as mentors is available; however, you are not limited to mentors on this list. Students may access the research institutions’ departmental websites for faculty engaged in biomedical research. Note that preference will be given to applicants who have not received an INBRE UROP scholarship in the past.
