About INBRE Supported Research
The goal of the Nevada IDeA Network for Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) is to develop research infrastructure and personnel in Nevada to increase the number on NIH funded scientists. In order to achieve this goal, the Nevada INBRE funds research projects in the general area of Cell Growth and Differentiation for early-career scientists. Award amounts are up to $135,000 per year for two years. INBRE Research Faculty are expected to submit an application for an R01 by the end of the funding period.
Funds may be used to buy out teaching or other responsibilities and to cover research supplies, travel, and personnel for the project. The research funding is awarded competitively based on the quality of a proposed project and the research potential of the applicant. Competition is open to researchers who meet the following criteria:
- Researchers with a faculty level appointment at a not-for-profit Nevada institution other than the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Institutions include (but are not limited to) UNR, UNLV, NVCI, and DRI.
- Researchers working in a field in the general area of Cell Growth and Differentiation.
- Researchers who will devote at least 50% effort to the INBRE-supported research.
- Researchers who have not been the Principal Investigator on a funded NIH RO1 award.
- Researchers who are U.S citizens or legal residents.
The Nevada INBRE is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action in recruitment of students, faculty, and employees. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, creed, national origin, veteran status, physical or mental disability, and sexual orientation. Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply.
Questions with regard to eligibility can be addressed to Dr. James Kenyon, Director of the Nevada INBRE 775/784-1649.
