Technology Transfer
The Technology Transfer Office (TTO) seeks to protect and commercialize the Intellectual Property (IP) produced via research activities at both the University of Nevada, Reno and Desert Research Institute (DRI), a process referred to as technology transfer.
The university helps industries create identity through a spirit of entrepreneurship and partnership. We are proud to have more than 30 active business and industry partnerships.
Through the creation of an educated workforce, we provide this integral building block in the creation of Nevada's knowledge-based economy. We fill structural holes and deepen the social capital of our business communities by opening our campus to forums, conferences and the sharing of new ideas.
Investment in what we do has a clear benefit to the state of Nevada. In an analysis by the University's Center for Economic Development, it is estimated that our $73 million last year in research and grants alone meant a regional impact of nearly $300 million for Nevada.
