A new way of navigating information about the University

As a comprehensive research university, Nevada offers hundreds (if not thousands) of opportunities to students and other stakeholders. Because no central administrative unit could ever hope to handle such a large volume of information, the programs themselves maintain individual websites with the latest and most accurate information.

The top-level University website (the homepage) aspires to play the role of docent to these websites. From the homepage, visitors can get a sense of basic information and context before jumping off to the specific program website. While the amount of information within the top-level website will start relatively small, it will continually grow to showcase all the facets of the University.

A focus on helping prospective students

Prospective students are the lifeblood of the University. To be competitive in recruiting talented students, the University's top-level website now aims to offer future students all the information they need to make a decision to attend Nevada. From academic programs to fraternities and sororities, the Web site's main purpose to share all of the great reasons to be a Nevada student.

Consolidated links for internal audiences

Unlike prospective students, internal University audiences - current students, faculty and staff - generally know what they're looking for and want to find it fast.

To that end, the University website features a "Quick Links" drop-down panel at the top-right corner of every page. From this panel, internal audiences can find frequently sought links like email, course catalogs, Employee Self Service and forms. More useful links are also available by clicking on the audience-based "gateways" such as "Current Students" and "Faculty & Staff."

Nevada Today and athletic schedules

News and the University Events Calendar remain on the homepage in an interactive panel that also includes Wolf Pack Athletics' sport schedules.

Social media links

Links to the University's social media pages are subtly found in the footer of the homepage as well as the right column of every internal web page within the site.

Video

Videos are scattered throughout the website, offering a glimpse into what life at Nevada is really like.
