Amy Metcalf
Lecturer

Hello! My name is Amy Metcalf, and I've been an English teacher at the IELC for the last eight years. I've loved the opportunities the IELC has given me to meet wonderful students from around the world and look forward to meeting you, too!

My love of languages and different cultures started at age 7, when I met a friend from Tahiti who taught me my first word in French, arbre (tree). His name was Yodi, but I thought he said Yoda from Star Wars. From that day on, I vowed to learn French, go to different countries, and seek out adventure. I've lived in France, traveled to most European countries, Egypt, and a few Asian countries. When I returned from traveling, I got a master's degree in 1998 in Teaching English as a Second Language from UNR. After graduating, I spent a fantastic year teaching in Harbin, China and returned to the IELC.

I am married to a wonderful husband, Erich Hohman, and we have a precocious 3 year old, Emily. In 2008, we plan to return to China to adopt our second child.

I look forward to welcoming new students to our great English program in the Biggest Little City. See you soon.
