The University of Nevada, Reno seeks a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide executive leadership, vision, and expertise in all aspects of information technology and services. We seek an individual who embraces the challenges of supporting a top-tier, Land Grant university that is growing both in terms of student enrollment and research capacity. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating the vision, policies, and sourcing decisions necessary to achieve the ambitious goals of the University while leading a team of talented, dedicated IT professionals.
The CIO has responsibility for centralized information technology services for the university and provides administrative oversight and day-to-day management of staff, facilities, services and budgets for reporting departments and managers, including: medical school IT unit, enterprise ERP, information security, application support, network services, virtualization, compute and storage, telecommunications, end-user services, and high-performance academic or distributed computing.
The position reports to the Executive Vice President & Provost and is an active participant on the Academic Leadership Council. The University is interested in both private sector and higher education professionals that believe in the value of collaboration and are willing to talk across many disciplines in strategic planning and decision making.
Candidates for the position must hold a Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred, and minimum of seven years of experience in information technology and services, including a strong record of administrative leadership.
