October 6, 2009:
Not much has changed since the July 21st letter (below) that went out to registered HCE students. Our Department is continuing to explore ways to provide not only Spring 2010 courses, but remain a viable department on campus. Please check back for updates.

July 21, 2009:
To: Students in the Health Care Ethics Program
As our department prepares for Fall 2009, we’d like to extend a welcome to those new students who have joined our program, and for those students who are returning to complete their Minor or Certificate.
It has been reported in local media that the Nevada Center for Ethics & Health Policy (NCEHP), the center that administers the Health Care Ethics Program, has been downsized. This is a true report. However, it is our understanding that after July 1st, 2010 HCE will be administered by the School of Community Health Sciences (CHS). CHS has always housed the HCE Program, but NCEHP administered it and its faculty taught the classes.
What does this mean to you? First and foremost it means that HCE will continue. We do not have specific information about the future program at this time, therefore we want to encourage all of you to be expeditious in your completion of core HCE courses. We would also ask that you contact our office to discuss your options for the 2009-2010 year.
The faculty and staff of NCEHP and HCE are committed to exploring every possible avenue to keep our academic program viable and offering classes. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to stop by our offices or contact us.
Best regards,
R. ElizaBeth Beyer, R.N., M.S., J.D.
