Marti Deyo is a third year PhD student in the Educational Leadership Department. Marti has special interests in intercultural relations, retention, and acculturation issues. Marti is passionate about traveling, the community, and "getting to know Nevada". She is from Idaho, got her BA in English at Willamette University, her masters in Early Childhood Development at Boise State University, and spent 5 years teaching English in Japan with the JET Programme. She has studied abroad in England, Turkey, Romania, and on Semester at Sea. Marti has visited over 70 countries and plans to live and work overseas after graduating. Her dissertation is on local student and business perspectives of international students with regards to social and academic effects of intercultural relations. She has volunteered her time to the Constitution Day Planning Committee, Performing Arts Series Committee, Night of All Nations Planning Committee, Publish or Perish, and is the co-founder of Discover Nevada. This is Marti's third year on the GSA Council. She is thankful and excited for the opportunity to serve the graduate student population in any way possible.
