I am an extremely proud First Generation Native Nevadan Latina. I was born in raised in Reno, Nevada and I look forward to someday raising my family here too. I am a product of the Washoe County School District System and I an extremely proud UNR Alumni class of 06'. Many have aspirations of going away to changing the world; I do not see that need. I want to make an impact right here in my own backyard yard which I am honored to call Northern Nevada. I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2006 with a dual degree in Criminal Justice Pre-Law and Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies. During my time as an undergraduate at UNR I was extremely involved in student activities; I pride myself in being the founding mother of UNR's first Latina sorority Kappa Delta Chi, Alpa Eta Chapter in December of 2004. Upon my college graduation I worked in the legal community for five plus years as a Senior Paralegal for a local attorney where I became the professional that I am today. As I began to give back to my community as a young professional, I began to mentor through the A.L.I.T.A.S. (Alliance of Latinas in Teen Action and Solidarity) program at Traner Middle School. This is when I quickly realized that my true calling was working with First Generation students like myself and leading tomorrow's generation by example. I was accepted into Educational Leadership Master's Program in the fall of 2013 and I am currently in my second semester of graduate school. I have two dog children that are my world. I enjoy everything from making homemade tortillas with my mother to ice fishing, hunting, enjoying Nevada summers on the lake to digging sprinkler trenches with my day laborer father. Reno is my city and UNR is my Alma Mater, I look to serve my community as my community has served me. I hope to do this while serving as your College of Education Council Representative and furthering my graduate education in the area of higher education administration. Please feel free to contact me.
