students in apartment

Program Overview: The GSA Household Items Program is a volunteer group of energetic and enthusiastic graduate students. We pick up donations in the Reno area and store them in our storage units on campus. Typical items include: kitchenware, desks, couches, chairs, tables and beds. Our goal is to serve graduate students by providing free household items. We are not a moving company, we only pick up donations, we do not charge fees for any of our services.

Visit our storage unit: The GSA Storage Units are located to the east of North Blue parking lot, in the blue fenced area. If you would like to visit it, please schedule an appointment through our email. All appointments meet at the GSA office, 3rd floor Joe Crowley Student Union room 302.

Items are given on a first come, first served basis. If a delivery is requested, please remain with your items until they are loaded for delivery. Household item services are for graduate students in need. Please do not use our service to upgrade existing furniture. Students are limited to 2 usages of the program per semester, and 3 usages per year.

Donations: Pickups are only for big items and will generally be during the week for locations within a radius of 10 miles of the campus. Please send us your name, address, phone number, and a brief description of items you wish to donate. Small appliances can be drop at our office, Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Please do not donate computer monitors, food, clothes, kids' toys, pet items, televisions, or books.)

  • "After making the short-term move to Reno for only two years we were worried about our finances and not spending too much on furnishing an apartment before moving across the country at the end of studies. The GSA warehouse was fantastic! We were able to borrow basic furniture and household items which set us up in the new apartment. We would have lived with far less had it not been for the donated goods at the GSA warehouse. You made our first home together more of a home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts." • "I am a UNR graduate student that used the Household Item Program some weeks ago, for furnishing my new appartment. I would like to thank everybody who is involved in this program and especially all those people that support the program with their donations. Their unconditional contribution and support is highly recognized and appreciated. I believe that this program is valuable for graduate students and especially for those that are moving to Reno from other places. It helps us make a start in a new place and eventually improves our lifes. Thank you everybody" Denis Istratii June 26th 2013
