Multicultural Groups

As the student population at the University has changed, so has the membership of the fraternity and sorority community. In addition to the fraternities and sororities that have been on campus for decades, new multicultural fraternities and sororities have emerged to to continue to enrich our Greek community. Below is a listing of these organizations.

Sororities:

  • Delta Sigma Theta

Fraternities:

  • Kappa Alpha Psi
  • Lambda Psi Rho
  • Nu Alpha Kappa

There is also interest in starting the fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. which was founded on January 9th, 1914 by three Men on the campus of Howard University based on the Principles of "Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Service" and the Motto "Culture for Service and Service for Humanity". They believed that a potential member should be judged by his own merits, not affluence and without regard of race, nationality, skin tone or texture of hair. Multicultural Greek Council (MGC)

The MGC was officially formed on April 24, 2007 as the governing council for all mulicultural focused greek letter organizations. The MGC will be planning events to build a more cohesive greek community throughout the academic year. To access a copy of the constitution, please click here.

The council meets everyother Friday in the Joe Crowley Student Union.

 

National Multicultutural Organizations

Nationally, there are a variety of multicultural organizations that are affiliated with a varity of ethnicities.
