You can view most of the geothermal GIS data maintained by the Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy using our ArcGIS Server by ESRI. The interactive maps are made for both spatial visualization of the data as well as selecting individual layers for downloading into a personal GIS. In either case, you can select individual data layers to compose a variety of multiple-layer geothermal GIS maps which can be queried and/or printed. More powerful data analysis can be performed with those having GIS software on their computers. This site will be especially helpful when GIS software is not available. Also, we are experimenting with using Google Earth® as a platform to provide our spatial geothermal data. CLICK HERE to visit the page that describes this new way of viewing the data, and shows you how to install it.
TIPS for viewing:
Recommended hardware and software for interactive map viewing
The interactive maps site was designed to be viewed in a Windows environment with a high-speed internet connection (>1 Mbit/second). Windows 2000 or XP with Internet Explorer web browser is recommended, though it has worked with Windows 98 and Netscape 7.0. The user’s computer should have a minimum CPU speed of 500 Mhz and 256 Mb of RAM.
