2005 Geothermal Favorability Map of the Great Basin

Geothermal systems in the Great Basin are known to be associated with such factors as crustal strain, heat flow and temperature gradient, proximity to deep-seated faults and fracture systems, recent seismicity, and Quaternary to Recent felsic intrusions. Using GIS-based weights of evidence and logistic regression analysis, Great Basin Center personnel have combined these evidence layers into a predictive map of geothermal favorability for the Great Basin.
