ACTIVE EXPLORATION PROJECTS - UPDATED SEPTEMBER 4, 2007
Big Smoky Valley Truckee Geothermal Truckee Geothermal applies for production wells and a Permit to Construct a 10 MW geothermal power plant at this T12N and T13N, R43E (Nye County) property.
Black Warrior, NV      Nevada Geothermal Located in T23N, R25E, Section 8 (BLM) plus seven square miles of private land. Previous drilling has indicated a high geothermal gradient and a 128o C at 552 m depth. See synopsis and article with maps. No news since last update.
Blue Mountain, NV     Nevada Geothermal In Feb. 2007 Nevada PUC approves 25 MW REC agreement. Also see article with maps.
Buffalo Valley, NV Ormat Nevada Ormat applies for Unit Agreement in April of 2007, has been drilling numerous wells during the spring of 2007.
Carson Lake, NV   Ormat Nevada Nevada PUC approves 24 MW contract in February 2007 for REC's from plant with production to start in 2010.
China Hat, ID    Idatherm LLC T7S, R41E Sections 13, 24 and T7S R42E Sections 7, 18, 19. No news since last update.
Crump Geyser, OR  Nevada Geothermal Company acquires 6500 acres of private land, including the geyser, inside the former KGRA area. The geyser well has 122o C water at 10 m depth, at local springs have geothermometer temperatures of 170o C. See article. No news since last update.
Fallon Naval Air Station Navy and Ormat sign an agreement to develop the geothermal potential at Fallon Naval Base, including a proposed ~30 MW power plant. See article. No news since last update.
Fish Lake Valley NV Esmeralda Energy/Geo-Energy Partners See synopsis. Download geospatial data. No news since last update.
Gerlach, NV       Gerlach Green Energy No news since last update.
Glass Mountain, CA Calpine BLM and USFS permits are in place for 49 megawatt geothermap plant, (see synopsis), but project is encountering stiff cultural opposition. See protests. No news since last update.
Grass Valley, NV  Ormat Nevada Ormat signed a 20 MW power purchase agreement with Nevada Power for electricity to be provided from its Grass Valley power plant to be in operation by late 2010. An observation well was drilled in February-March of 2007.
Hazen NV Lyon Co. GridUSA.biz and Geothermal Rail Industrial Development LLC See article. No news since last update.
Hot Creek Ranch, NV Nevada Geothermal Specialists/ENEL No news since last update.
Hot Sulfur Springs, NV  TG Power LLC No news since last update.

Jersey Valley, NV  Ormat Nevada Geothermal Unit Agreement gets OK from BLM May 10, 2007. BLM also gives nod for 3-5 observation and 3-5 production wells.
McGuiness Hills, NV Ormat Nevada Surface sinter is exposed in this former gold exploration property in Lander County. Drilling encountered hot water with high geothermometry temperatures. Acquired by Ormat during the August 2007 lease auction.
Moana Geothermal area Nevada Geothermal Utility Company Permit issued 4/25/06 to drill a production and injection well in Section 26 of T19N, R19E. No news since then.
Pumpernickel Valley NV Nevada Geothermal Nevada Geothermal files application for geophysical work to be performed in T33N R40E of Pumpernickel Valley March 13, 2007.
Pyramid Lake       Paiute Tribe Pyramid Lake energy project included data compilation, water sampling, the drilling of 3 temperature gradient holes, and a slim hole. No news since last update.
Raft River, ID             U.S. Geothermal Construction of 13 MW binary cycle power plant is 95% complete. See details.
Reese River           Sierra Geothermal Power Well 56-4 (in NW/SE Section 4, T23N, R43E?) successfully drilled to 1200 m depth March 23, 2007; currently being tested for reservoir characteristics.
Rock Hill, NV        Ormat Nevada Ormat files for geophysical exploration permit in April 2007 for this Esmeralda County property in T3N and T4N, R36E.
Salt Wells, NV          Enel North America and Vulcan Power ENEL acquired AMP Resources interest in Salt Wells in the spring of 2007. It received approval to drill 8 production wells, 8 injection wells, and 10 observation wells on its leases in T17N, R30 E. in June 2007. In addition, Vulcan Power completed a $300,000 geophysical survey over its geothermal leases at Salt Wells.
Steamboat Springs ORMAT Ormat receives Nevada PUC approval for 20 year PPA from proposed Galena 3 geothermal plant. See article.
