DATA_QUALITY_INFORMATION
Attribute_Accuracy: Attribute_Accuracy_Report: Attribute data is probably accurate. The attribute data was joined to an existing shapefile of cadastral data compiled from various sources and is probably accurate at 100,000 or smaller scale. Geothermal lease and lease application data for Great Basin States were downloaded from the BLM's LR2000 database and sent in spreadsheet format to the Great Basin Center for Geothermal Energy. There, it was joined in Microsoft Access to a dbf file from an existing shapefile of cadastral data (GBPLSS) by township, range, section in Lambert Conformable Conic projection. Those joined sections containing the BLM lease data were then made into a new shapefile. Geothermal leases outside the area represented by the GBPLSS shapefile are not shown. This shapefile shows those sections that contain Federal geothermal leases although perhaps only a portion of that section is federal land and subject to lease. In addition, there are occasionally more than one lease owner in a particular section; this shapefile shows the name of only one of the owners.
Additional caveats: Some problems occurred due to errors or omissions in the original GBPLSS shapefile. 1: We found two NV section sliver (e.g., small sized) polygons that were not digitized correctly in the GBPLSS shapefile that contain geothermal leases. These are 21 0315N 0330E 035 lease NVN 074541 and 21 0315N 0330E 036 lease NVN 074541. This seems to imply that the cadastral shapefile for Nevada is not 100% precise and those geothermal leases in these polygons will not be shown. 2: Some BLM lease sections from various States contain section numbers exceeding [the usual] 36, while no sections in the GBPLSS shapefile exceed 36. The implication is that some geothermal leases in sections with numbers greater than 36 will not be adequately represented. Examples include 21 0310N 0330E 037 21 0310N 0330E 038 21 0310N 0330E 039 3: 13 AZ State section polygons fall outside GBPLSS map boundary but appear in 2007 BLM geothermal lease data; for example 14 0040S 0300E 007 to 14 0040S 0300E 020 4: 39 CA State section polygons fall outside GBPLSS map boundary but appear in 2007 BLM geothermal lease data: 27 0150S 0160E 023 to 27 0160S 0170E 003
