Many (1015) of the samples do not have lat long data. Contains Lat/lon, depth, temperature data. Nevada: Download current version of Nevada geothermal permitted wells from the NBMG web site at http: HTTP://www.nbmg.unr.edu/geothermal/mapfiles /readme.htm. There are 467 wells in the dataset. Oregon: Geothermal data set of 60 wells [actually drilled] from the Oregon Department of Energy in October 2004. Cadastral location data only, most records have depth drilled but no temperature information. Utah: Got Utah geothermal database from UGS OFR-431DM CD. The file contains data from 2,411 wells, published in 2004. Wyoming: No data except the Geo-Heat data set. The data collected have varying degrees of accuracy, and come from published and unpublished State sources.     We cannot guarantee that this data set is complete.

Purpose: Geothermal Exploration Supplemental_Information: California and Oregon State geothermal datasets contained only cadastral location data or had many samples with only cadastral location data. Converting this information to Lambert involved multiple steps including: (1) Breaking out cadastral data into numeric and text fields, (2) joining the resulting table with the dbf file from the Great Basin cadastral shapefile (GBplss) in Access and creating a conditional query to associate the sections containing geothermal wells with the poly ID of the polygons in GBplss, (3) creating a dbf file with this information, (4) joining this dbf in ArcView to the GBplss shapefile, (5) selecting those sections with geothermal wells in GBplss, (6) creating a shapefile of polygon centroids of those sections, and (7) adjusting locations to quarter or quarter-quarter accuracy by adding or subtracting the appropriate value to make the point locate at the centroid of the quarter or quarter-quarter section.
