Geothermal Sites

For the past 40 years, the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology (NBMG) has performed systematic exploration of Nevada's geothermal resources, listing site names, temperatures, chemistry, and geology where known. The publications, maps, and field results from this endeavor are listed to the right:

Prior to field surveys by the NBMG and Great Basin Center, many Nevada geothermal systems had limited historical data, uncertain locations, and poor chemistry. Larry Garside, Lisa Shevenell, Mark Coolbaugh, Chris Sladek and Robin Penfield have acquired geothermal data for some 1,500 sites, analyzed site geochemistry, and compiled a geothermal database.
