Geothermal Graduate Research Fellowships
Summary: The goal of the fellowship program is to encourage outstanding students to pursue graduate degrees in geoscience and engineering fields related to geothermal energy.
The Fellowship award provides tuition support, health insurance, and an annual stipend of $26,000 for living expenses for pursuit of full-time graduate study and thesis/dissertation research. The award is renewable for additional years, pending satisfactory progress. Support is limited to two years for MS students and four years for PhD students.
Criteria: The graduate fellowship stipend will be competitively awarded based on undergraduate preparation and GPA, GRE scores, and letters of recommendation provided with the application to graduate school at UNR. Applicants must be US citizens. The student must be accepted into a graduate MS or PhD degree program at UNR in the Department of Geological Sciences and Engineering, Graduate Program in Hydrological Sciences or one of the Departments in the College of Engineering. These awards are highly competitive.
Procedure: All students applying to the Dept of Geological Sciences and Engineering that describe an interest in geothermal in their personal statement will be automatically considered for the fellowship. It is strongly recommended to contact faculty whose research interests closely align with your own goals. Students applying to other programs should email the Center (geothermal@unr.edu) of their wish to be considered and should ask the Graduate Director of their departmental program to contact GBCGE Center Director regarding consideration and review of application materials.
