The Department of Geography has teaching assistant positions to support candidates for the M.S. in Geography or in Land Use Planning Policy and the Ph.D. in Geography at the University of Nevada, Reno.
The positions will be mainly in the areas of physical geography, cultural geography, and GIS/cartography. Department faculty members are responsible for teaching Geography courses, so that teaching assistants mostly help with grading, organizing and conducting laboratory sessions, and tutoring undergraduate students.
Teaching assistantships are full-time positions (20 hours per week), and are offered for one year, with a possibility of renewal for a second year. The stipend for the ten-month period between August 1st thru May 31st, is $1,400 per month. The assistantship includes both health insurance and a tuition waiver in addition to this salary.
To be eligible for the position, interested students must meet the graduate admission requirements of the University of Nevada, Reno, and have competitive GPA and GRE scores.
