Research Statement
Dr. Berry works within the geographic tradition of human-environment interactions. She has experience in the analysis of water policy, with an emphasis on research about intergovernmental relations in water conflicts and examinations of the cultural and political dimensions of water conflicts and policy. She has worked extensively on indigenous resources issues, including tribal and Native Hawaiian water issues. Her projects have also focused on other contemporary indigenous issues as well as geographic dimensions of race, ethnicity, and indigenousness. She employs a variety of methods in her projects, including textual and visual analyses of contemporary and historical records; field methods; interviews and surveys; and both qualitative and quantitative analytical methods. She has worked in the western U.S, Latin America , and the Pacific.

Research Areas of Interest
Analysis of water law and intergovernmental relations in water conflicts; cultural politics of water issues; indigenous geographies; ethnic geographies.

Dr. Berry is presently the President of the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers.
