Community Partners
Working Together
University faculty and staff are strategic partners to the Silver State, providing students with opportunities to learn and gain experience in addressing community issues and opportunities. For instance, the University's Cooperative Extension and Nevada Agricultural Experiment Station faculty work to improve quality of life by enhancing agricultural crop production, reducing contaminants in drinking water, and conserving water resources. The School of Community Health Sciences is focused on examining and improving the general health of Nevadans. And business and economic development activities include the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology, which plays a central role in supporting Nevada's mining industry — the state's third-largest revenue source after gaming and tourism.
