The Downside: Problem and Pathological Gambling

Edited by Jeffrey J. Marotta, Judy A. Cornelius, & William R. Eadington

Gambling over the past thirty years has dramatically increased in availability, acceptance, legitimization, and legalization throughout the world. Accompanying this growth has been an increase in the incidence and visibility of destructive gambling behavior-the downside.

Well-known researchers and academics from around the world have contributed articles on the topic of problem and pathological gambling for this publication. They range from the philosophic, such as Steven Graybar and Duane Varble's perspective on pathological gamblers and pathological warriors, to the pragmatic, such as Lynn Wallisch's article on Texas before and after the State lottery and her observations on the under-served Hispanic population. The articles are informative and instructive.
