Financial Aid Checklist
A helpful tool to guide you throughout the financial aid process
The university aims to make getting financial aid a straightforward process. Here are the general steps:
1. Get officially admitted to University of Nevada, Reno
To get things started, you need to make sure you have been officially admitted to the university.
Learn more about the admissions process >>
2. Register for classes
You register for classes per the timelines specified in the Class Schedule. Students offered financial aid and/or scholarships must be registered at least half-time by June 15 for fall semester or January 2 for spring semester to indicate their intent to attend the University. If you miss a deadline, your need-based gift aid will be cancelled and offered to other need-eligible students.
If you delay your enrollment until the spring, your Offer Letter will not be held for you. You must inform our office after you register for the spring by submitting the Reporting Resources and Changes form of your request for reconsideration of your Offer Letter.
3. File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
