The cost of attendance varies based on a variety of factors

Like most research universities, the cost of the attendance at Nevada depends on the type of degree and lifestyle a student wishes to pursue. For instance, students majoring in humanities and living in smaller residence halls will likely pay less than an engineering student with larger accommodations.

Here’s a breakdown of the different costs that make up a college experience at Nevada.

Registration (Course) Fees

Students pay for their classes on a per-credit basis. This rate depends on the type of degree (undergraduate, graduate or medical) and residency status.

Tuition

Tuition is a cost to students who are not residents of Nevada. Several tuition discounting programs may offer students reduced tuition rates including the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program and the Good Neighbor program.

Room and Board

While students are encourages to live in one of the Nevada’s residence halls, students are free to determine their own living situation. Costs for living on campus vary based on the residence hall.

The university also offers a variety of meal plans for students to take advantage of the Downunder Café and other dining locations on campus.

Mandatory Fees

In addition to registration fees and tuition are mandatory fees that help pay for various services to students.

  • Health Center Fee: Students enrolled in six credits or more pay this fee and receive access to the Student Health Center
  • Counseling Services Fee: Students enrolled in six credits or more pay this fee and receive access to Counseling Services.
  • New Student Orientation Fee: This one-time fee helps pay for the new student orientation programs.
  • Student Union Fee: To help pay for the Joe Crowley Student Union, Nevada students voted to help pay for the building through tiered fees.
  • Academic Success Fee: As voted on by Nevada students, The Academic Success fee is used to ensure students are receive tutoring, supplemental instruction, math and writing assistance and support.
  • Performing Arts Fee: The Performing Arts fee was approved by students to make available and to enhance student exposure to the arts.

Optional Fees

The university also offers other services for an additional fee:

  • Campus Recreation Membership: Students choosing to purchase a campus recreation membership gain access to the fitness center and swimming pool in the Lombardi Recreation building as well as other benefits.
  • Student Health Insurance: The university offers students option group health insurance to Nevada students enrolled in nine or more credits.
