Brief Bio: Marsha Urban is the Director of the Tutoring Center. Since 2003, she has hired, trained, and supervised tutors and Supplemental Instruction Leaders throughout the university in many disciplines with a focus in the sciences and math. The Academic Support Fee paid by undergraduate students supports the Tutoring Center. Marsha earned her B.A. in English from King’s College in Pennsylvania, a M.A. (English Literature) in 1996 and a Ph.D. (17th-Century British Literature) in 2002 from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Brief Bio: Ellen Houston is the director of the federally funded Upward Bound Programs, which provide free college preparatory services for first-generation, income qualified students from target high schools in Washoe and Lyon counties. She started working at the University in 1997. Prior to Upward Bound, Houston most recently worked in the Center for Student Cultural Diversity, where she served as the assistant director supervising outreach and retention services for underrepresented students.
