Refulgent
When: 12/4 05:30PM - 12/4 08:00PM
Where: California Building, Idlewild Park
What: The exhibition project, “Refulgent” brings together the work of 7 Digital Media majors from the Department of Art for a one-night event presenting recently completed projects Senior Projects. The students have been working on their projects over the course of the fall term, taken from proposal concept through a series of rigorous critiques towards this final, public presentation. A diversity of ideas and utilizations of digital technologies will be on display including projected video and interactive installations.

Paige Brady presents her experiment in human interface design through the use of a converted, stationary bicycle that controls a video documenting a popular Sierra Nevada mountain biking trail. Tyson Frederick’s work “Action Under Uncertainty” will present users with a simulation of psychological experiments as re-created using computer Game engine technology. Michael Gjurich and Brandon Nissl will show their short video that satirically explores the life of up and coming slacker artists. Whitney Grimes presents an interactive sculpture that plays back contrasting interviews recorded with young children and adult addicts. Meredith Richardson’s video installation explores nature through the re-presentation of the life-cycle of leaves. Yu Takado’s contribution involves his creation of an alternate persona in the guise of a pop star.

The evening’s event will commence at 5:30 p.m. as the students participate in “The Reflections Series”, an ongoing project by the City of Reno Arts and Culture Division to facilitate dialogue between artists and local audiences.

Refulgent is sponsored by The University of Nevada, Reno Department of Art, Digital Media Studio, University of Nevada, Reno and the City of Reno Arts and Culture Division.
