- Who can use the service?... Any student, faculty, staff, or visitor of the
University of Nevada, Reno.
- Why should I use it?...You may be parked in the Blue parking lot at the north end of campus and may not want to walk alone to your car after dark; you may have been studying at the library late at night and don't feel comfortable waiting at the bus stop until the next shuttle arrives; you may have a late night class and would feel better with a ride from the building to your residence or vehicle after class; your department or organization has had an evening event on campus and you would feel safer with a ride to your nearby home or vehicle.
- How can I use it?...You can reach the Campus Escort dispatcher by calling
742-6808 Monday- Sunday (excluding summers and semester breaks) between 5 p.m.
and 1 a.m. (Sunday-Wednesday) and 5p.m. and 3a.m. (Thursday-Saturday). We can provide limited service on legal holidays. There are also free call buttons (yellow) on most university pay phones.
During your call, please give the dispatcher your exact location and
destination.
- How will I recognize the Campus Escort Officers?... The Campus Escort
Officers will arrive in a white van with blue decals denoting the Campus
Escort Service. The officers will be wearing distinct uniforms including
a white Campus Escort polo shirt and navy blue B.D.U. pants. During
cold weather, officers may wear a navy blue jacket with "safety
officer" printed on the back.
- How long will it take?... Our dispatcher should give an approximate
delay when you call. Due to unforeseeable circumstances, such as traffic
and high demand, the exact time of arrival may vary. We will make every
effort to be there within 5 minutes.
- Can I call ahead of time to be picked up later that day?... Yes, but
to ensure a better timing you should call us right when you need us. However, large groups may want to call the office in advance so that we will be ready to accommodate your group.
- Can you help with car problems?... Our ability to help is limited to
battery jumps, flat tire changes, and providing a safe environment to wait for outside assistance.
- Can you provide rides for wheel chairs?... Not at this time. One of the priorities of Campus Escort is to acquire a van with a wheelchair lift.
- Where is your office?... We are located on the outside of the Joe Crowley Student Union,
Room 334.
- Can I get a ride by coming to your office?... Yes, the dispatcher will
call in a vehicle for you.
- Do you provide walking escorts?... No, we do not provide walking escorts.
- Are there times when the service is very busy and I should avoid calling?...
No. Although our highest demand is from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., we can
still respond to a call within a reasonable amount of time.
- Can anyone work for the Campus Escort Service?... Please see the employment

Limitations of the Campus Escort Service
Our priorities for our patrons are (1) Safety, (2) Education, (3) Social Interaction, and (4) Convenience. Through our priorities, limited by budget constraints, time, manpower, risk management, and vehicles, Campus Escort will provide the best possible service to it’s patrons with very few restrictions as follows:
- Campus Escort will abide by all State and Federal laws.
- Campus Escort will travel no farther than a two-mile boundary from the perimeter of the main campus according to the odometer in the vehicle.
- A property or recognized unit of the University of Nevada, Reno (including Greek houses) must be the start or end of the journey.
- No third party commercial business can be the start or end of the journey with the exception of Walgreen’s (located at 750 N. Virginia St.) or if the patron is employed at the business.
- The Campus Safety site and all affiliated university sites are divisions of: Student Life Services.
