The College of Engineering has developed a nationally recognized research and outreach program over the past twenty-five years. Our College is listed in U.S. News and World Report as one of the best graduate schools in the nation.
Our faculty are involved in research projects for local industry, the Nevada Department of Transportation, the California Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Energy, the Department of Defense and the National Science Foundation. Our research and outreach grants and contracts exceeded $16 million in fiscal year 2014.
Engineering for the Advancement of Society
We are focusing our research efforts under the theme Engineering for the Advancement of Society. The main research focus areas of the College are:
- Infrastructure & environment: Urban, energy and environmental applications
- Security & defense: National defense & cyberspace applications
- Human development: Health, medical & social applications
