On-campus engineering summer camps

Our camps are interactive, social programs that offer a great way to fuel your child's passion for engineering. Led by University of Nevada, Reno engineering students, our camps explore the engineering design process and sharpen new math and science skills. The high-quality curriculum is delivered by University of Nevada, Reno engineering faculty, students and engineering professionals from the community in a fun, engaging environment. What our camps offer

  • Focused-learning time: Eight hours of hands-on lessons, engaging discussions and short lectures.
  • Teambuilding and breaks: Our day includes icebreakers, team building activities, energizers and breaks to keep campers engaged!
  • High-quality instruction: Content is developed by University of Nevada, Reno engineering faculty and engineering students.
  • Social interaction: Campers will participate in team activities, group reflections and get-to-know-you activities.

Refund Policy: If you choose to cancel or leave a camp session for any reason;

  • 14 days or less prior to the camp session starting date, you will not be eligible for a refund.
  • 15 or more days prior to the camp session starting date, you will be eligible for a refund.

Camp descriptions and schedule

Engineering Everywhere! Introduction to engineering. For ages 12-14

Cost: $400

Engineering is everywhere-from the roads we drive on to the medicine we take to the computers we use. Participants will design, build and test projects, while learning about various fields in engineering. 

  • June 24-28, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Engineering Exploration: Introduction to engineering. For ages 15-17

Cost: $400
Register for "Engineering Exploration: Introduction to engineering"
Participants will engage in hands-on lessons, short lectures and team-building to identify a problem. They will design, build and test a model following the engineering design process. This session focuses on the importance of engineers working in teams.

  • July 8-12, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Engineering Adventures: Introduction to engineering in the outdoors. For ages 12-14

Cost: $480

Participants will enjoy the Sierra Nevada through field trips and meetings with outdoor engineering experts. We are going to explore what it means to be an engineer who creates rock climbing equipment, mountain bikes, outdoor clothing and more.

  • July 15-19, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Civil and Environmental Engineering by J-U-B Engineering. For ages 15-17

Cost: $400

Civil and Environmental Engineers ensure that our infrastructure, from the roads or bridges we drive on to the buildings we live and work in, are safe. They maintain our water ways and supplies, provide safe drinking water, and design stormwater systems to prevent flooding. They are essential for our society. This camps offers students a chance to learn the ins and outs of Civil and Environmental Engineering while discovering solutions to engineering challenges by following the engineering design process. They will meet with University of Nevada, Reno faculty and students to learn about key practices that will enhance critical thinking, time management, and problem-solving skills.

  • July 22-26, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Engineering Unlimited: Introduction to engineering. For ages 12-14

Cost: $400
Register for "Engineering Unlimited: Introductions to engineering"
This camp is exclusively for female, non-binary and transgender individuals looking to ignite their passion for engineering. Participants will learn about contributions to engineering and science from women throughout history. They will learn about the engineering design process, build and test projects, and learn about various fields of engineering.
